Calliope

CALLIOPE, the muse of epic poetry, so named from the sweetness of her vioce (Gr. KaXXos, beauty; Otli, voice). In Hesiod she was the last of the nine sisters, but yet enjoyed a supremacy over the others. (See also MUSES, THE.)
